Prepare your cat for the big move - CHEAT SHEET

Dr. Marie Lamontagne, veterinarian, helps you make the experience of moving easier for your cat.

Moving? Get your cat ready!

Your cat’s sense of security rests on the stability of their environment and predictability of their daily routine at home. In fact, your home is really their home! If your cat were human, they’d no doubt let you know that you’re just renting space from them. Even moving a piece of furniture is enough to disrupt and unsettle your pet. So you can imagine the effect that moving and changing environments can have on your cat! With a little planning, you can lessen the emotional impact on your cat when it comes to the big move.

What to do (or not do) and where to start? Here are a few tips put together by Dr. Marie Lamontagne, owner of Hôpital vétérinaire Mont Saint-Hilaire. You’ll find a list of items you may not always think of, but may nonetheless help your cat adapt to their new environment.
