Greater Montreal and the Montérégie
Even Fido will fall for the charms of the Townships. Whether you are looking for a day trip or for a holiday destination, there are many options for you and your dog to experience.
1. A great road trip
The Townships Trail is 430 km long and takes you past 31 picturesque towns and villages and through stunning scenery. The Trail also highlights the area’s history as far back as the late 18th century. This is a wonderful excursion if your dog enjoys car rides.
2. Parc National du Mont Orford
Starting in 2019, dogs have been allowed into most of Quebec’s national parks, with restrictions in some locations. The park has some of the most spectacular views in the region and is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife.

3. Summit Drive
Encompassing the world’s first International Dark Sky Reserve, this scenic route connects summits at altitudes of over 1,000 metres, with breathtaking panoramas. Seasoned hikers will find everything they wish for, and there are also easier trails that you and your dog (on leash!) can enjoy.

6. Magog
A walk along the shore of Lake Memphremagog is a lovely start to the day. Follow it up with a pleasant picnic and the day gets even better. And you can’t leave Magog without exploring the Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises, which invites visitors to hike along its trails and discover four different natural environments (wood, marsh, swamp and bog).
